This weekend we had plans to visit a farm. Every year the owners of the farm put up thousands of Christmas lights and decorations. On opening night Santa comes and the kids can sit in the sleigh with him and take pictures. There’s Christmas music, hot chocolate, cookies, and a campfire. People from all over come to visit this farm. It’s absolutely beautiful!
We had to miss our visit this year because it poured rain all day Friday and Saturday. All that rain plus all the melting snow we got last weekend saturated the ground and caused more problems. We have definitely had our share of water this year!
I’m disappointed this year because I’ve had to miss several Christmas events. My daughter is growing up and I want her to have wonderful Christmas memories. This week it’s supposed to be somewhat warmer and sunny so we will just drive around town when it gets dark and look at all the beautifully decorated houses. Maybe we’ll get to the farm this weekend, even though there’s another storm system bringing more soaking rain Thursday and Friday.
My daughter and I love to bake a lot of cookies every year for Christmas. We give some out to family while visiting. I thought I would share my list with you!
- Sugar Cookies – Obviously! It’s not Christmas without decorating cookies! I love to top my sugar cookies with vanilla icing and mini M&M’s. My daughter is more of a sprinkles kind of girl. The more the better.
- Cake Mix Crinkle Cookies – I found the recipe in an email from Betty Crocker and new I had to try these! I mean – chocolate!
- White Chip Chocolate Cookies – My daughter picked these. She made some chocolate muffins last year and it was her idea to add white chips to them. My husband took some to work and everybody loved them! They were so good! So we’re going to try them as cookies this year.
- Red Velvet Cake Balls – I love, love, love cake balls! And of course red velvet cake….
- White Chocolate Dipped Oreo Cookies – I make these every year and never have any to bring home. Everyone loves these!
- Pretzel Hugs – I thought I was done with five cookies on my list, but my daughter remembered the pretzel hugs so I had to add one more.
Are you baking this year? What are you favorite Christmas cookies?

I’m thinking about making sugar cookies this year to give out to the family and, of course, to have for myself. And I ALWAYS make my signature brownies that everybody loves every year, but my “secret” is that they’re out of the box.

We share the same secret! Haha! You should definitely do the cookies, too. Wrap them up all pretty. 🙂

Sounds delicious! My wife makes a bunch of cookies too. She makes them all gluten free and the ones for me are egg and dairy free too. She still makes cookies with egg and dairy for her and the kids sometimes. She usually makes Sugar cookies, Chocolate Crinkles, and Molasses cookies. So yummy! God bless!

Molasses cookies sound so good! I’ve never tried those before. Your wife must be super busy this time of year! God bless you both! 🙂

All those recipes sound so amazing! I haven’t baked cookies in ages, sadly. But I have been baking gingerbread which is one of my all-time favorites.

This is the recipe I use. It’s very simple, but so delicious: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/7322/favorite-old-fashioned-gingerbread/. Perfect if you like desserts that aren’t overly sweet.

I want to bake cookies as Christmas giveaways for my friends but my oven is too small.

I can understand that. 🙂 It usually takes me a few days of baking because mine is small, too.

I’ve never been good with Christmas cookies. Bread? No problem? Cakes? Absolutely. But Christmas cookies? They look like they were made by a five-year-old. Who decided to make them without an adult helping. My partner’s always loved Christmas cookies, but she recently went sugar-free, saving me from making yet another attempt and her from having to look at the results. Everyone wins.
Hope you had a good Christmas.

I’ve always been the cookie baker in my family. My favorite is simple shortbread cookies. I refer to them as adult cookies 😊 I baked some to share with my sister and had to freeze them. We will get together soon if the weather permits. I saved the prettiest cookies for her. Always bake with love ❤️
