Farmhouse Style Wall Decor

A few years ago I bought two picture frames from a yard sale. They were unique because they were so tall (or long depending on the way you hang them). I had no idea what to do with them so they sat in my closet for a long time collecting dust.

I finally decided to paint the frames white and I spray painted the back cover black. I added a vinyl sticker that I found at Dollar Tree.

I still didn’t like it so I never hung it up. Back to the closet they went.

Last night while I was cooking dinner those frames came back into my mind. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it!

The kitchen timer said the broccoli had 10 more minutes to roast, so I ran to the closet and pulled out one of the frames. I took the sticker off and pulled off the back and took out the glass. The timer beeped. Why do I always think I can do 20 things at once?

The broccoli burned.

My husband ate it anyway.

Now back to the frame.

I wrapped some jute string around each side and placed a wreath I made last year in the middle. (You can see how I made the wreath here.)

I’m very happy with the way it turned out! It cost me nothing because I already had everything on hand and it only took about 10 minutes to put together. I love reusing things I have around the house to create something new!

What started as a broccoli burning kind of day ended much better.

  1. Posts like yours…projects of my own that have come to me after something has been stored for years…make it hard to throw anything away. I might need it. It could become something amazing like your frame and wreath. I am just going to keep everything, but list it all in an inventory, and keep on creating, creating, creating. You’ve inspired me!
