Early Sunday morning winter storm Diego decided to stop by and stay all day long. It snowed and snowed and snowed! I didn’t think it was ever going to stop. It was pretty coming down at times with the big huge flakes. By the time it was over we had 15 inches of snow at our house. That’s a lot for us! The last time we got this much snow was in 1996 when we had a blizzard. The weatherman said this could have been considered a blizzard if the wind had picked up. I’m so glad it didn’t!

I’m not sure exactly what time it started snowing, I think a little after midnight. It didn’t stop until around 10 that night. That was actually earlier than expected. The day before the meteorologists kept saying it would last until noon the next day. I’m glad they were wrong!

The snow was perfect for sledding. My daughter’s best friend lives right over the hill from us so she came up to play. They stayed outside sledding all day before coming in to warm up with hot chocolate. As soon as they were warm they were right back outside!

I was worried Sunday night because the trees were getting very heavy. The tree below is extremely tall and sits between mine and my neighbor’s houses. I was worried it was going to break, but it held on. People all over the county were losing electricity. I’m so thankful ours never went out.

There was still plenty of snow yesterday, too. Some of it melted during the day Monday, but the temperatures dropped into the 20’s at night so it all froze back. That made the snow super slick!

Did you get any snow with this storm? Are you a snow lover or a snow hater?
I love photos of snow! But I had my fill of actual snow and cold weather back in Illinois. Brrrr! Love your pics.

It’s so pretty but can cause a lot of problems (travel and power outages) and be a lot of work if you have to shovel it. Happy to hear your daughter had some fun with it. 🙂 Here in Michigan we don’t have any snow on the ground and the inch we are supposed to get later today probably won’t stick around long.

It does cause a lot of problems. The refreezing at night after the snow melts some during the day make the roads very dangerous in the mornings. It is pretty when it first starts, though!

Snow can be beautiful when you’re inside and don’t have to drive in it. I love your photos, and that’s what I like to do. It’s lovely to walk in the woods and see the snow on all the trees with the beautiful birds around.

Thank you! It’s definitely beautiful from inside. 😀 I’m not a huge fan of the cold. I love seeing the cardinals in the snow. They are so pretty!

They are beautiful against the white of the snow.

Beautiful! I would get out my snowboard for that! I can snowboard right here in our neighborhood since we live in the hills above our town. Some cool woods just down the street and it’s like a little mountain. We call fresh fallen snow “freshies” here in Colorado (freshies bro!). We call powder snow “pow.” That is a good amount of snow and it’s pure white gold! In the mountain towns here, you will see shops close with signs that say “powder day” and they go ride for a few hours…or all day. 🙂 Nothing like several feet of new pow up in Winter Park! We haven’t had a big snow like that yet, but it’s coming. We will definitely have the sleds and snowboards out when it does! Have fun & God bless!

That sounds like so much fun!! Thank you for sharing! There’s a street in town that is just one big huge hill. A lot of the kids in that neighborhood go sledding down it when we get a good snow. I hope your snow comes soon! God bless!!

I live in Maryland. The skies were very cloudy but we didn’t get any snow. Personally, I’m not a fan of snow. Especially when I go sledding, we live on 8 acres and most of it is hill. It takes me about 15 minutes to walk back up the hill, so when my fingers are freezing off and I’m at the bottom of the hill, I feel like curling up in a ball and being rescued by the fire department.

I know exactly how you feel! The walking back up the hill has to be the worst! When I was little we lived on a farm and would go sledding on the big hill beside our house. My dad had an ATV and would attach our sled to a rope and drag us back up the hill. That was so much fun! I don’t like the snow as much as I did when I was younger. 🙂

Wow, I heard that storm was a monster! By some stroke of mercy, we completely missed out on Diego, which almost never happens in the Northeast. It’s cold as all get out up here but we didn’t get one snowflake. So glad you didn’t lose power though! That’s the worst during a winter storm.

You were lucky! They thought it might go north of us, but apparently it decided to come right over us. I’m glad we kept power, too. I don’t know if I have enough blankets! 😀

So glad you ‘weathered the storm ok, Michele. Sunday we were meant to get an inch then all day rain, but instead we got 5 inches of snow, lots of wind & power knocked out for 60,000 in our area. Our power was out for 2 birizzzy days! Thankfully it’s back on & we’re toasty warm again (& snow is melting!) Blessings!! 💨💥🥶💥😊💨

Oh now! I’m sorry to hear you lost power. It looks like many meteorologists got this system a little wrong. 😀 I’m glad your power is back on and you guys are ok! God bless! 🙂

I love it when it first starts coming down and when it’s untouched. I do not like parking lot snow – the big black piles! Thank you!! 🙂

I don’t like those either…they take forever to melt away!
