Happy Halloween!

It’s finally Halloween and I’m a little glad to see it come and go. My daughter is 11 this year and she’s at that weird in-between age where she’s too young for certain things and too old for certain things. She wanted to go trick-or-treating, so we will, but she’s just not as excited about it as she has been in the past. She seems to be growing out of it. She wanted to be a bird this year, which I thought was pretty unique!

I do not mind walking around the neighborhood. What I do mind is that while there are thousands of kids walking around, there are also psycho drivers that have an immediate need to get somewhere ASAP. A few years ago a car hit a child and kept on going. The child was okay, but still. Halloween happens every year. Kids trick-or-treat every year. Everybody in the neighborhood knows this. There is a main road that goes around this street so I’m not sure why people that are not trick-or-treating even need to be driving down that street.

We always seem to make some great memories on Halloween night. Every year my daughter and I laugh about the poor oldΒ  lady that ran out of candy and ended up giving out an entire sleeve of crackers. I will never forget the look on my daughter’s face (then she was 6 years old) when she saw that sleeve of crackers being placed into her pumpkin. I always wondered if that lady gave all her food away that night…

So to all who will be out trick-or-treating tonight, please be careful and have a great time! Parents – don’t forget to sneak some of that candy for yourself. Your kid doesn’t need all that and I’m pretty sure it’s a sin to throw away chocolate.

Speaking of chocolate, I made these cute little chocolate cupcakes for Halloween.

I finished another scarf this past weekend. It’s a slightly different pattern than the first one I made. I used the same type of flower and instead of fringes at the bottom of the scarf I added a fan border. The scarf is Heather Grey. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. It’s so soft and warm!

  1. When my kids were young they would invite friends over for trick or treat. We would have pizza or sloppy Joes then I or the friends parent would accompany them around the neighborhood. They loved being able to do this with their friends.
Your cupcakes are adorable and your scarf is beautiful. I have been working on scarves and now a jacket for my granddaughter. Hopefully I’ll have pictures soon.

  2. Hope y’all have fun! I definitely understand the speeding…. I live on a country back road and people treat it like a raceway. With all the potholes and deer I say more power to them lol!

  3. Love the scarf! I hate being 11. I have to be 13 for NaNoWriMo, trick-or-treating isn’t as fun, and all of the kids menus that are the perfect serving (I finish it all) stop at 10 or 12.
Happy Halloween! (Today’s also my mom’s birthday.)

  4. Your post made me a bit sad, as Zahra is very excited and she is 9 right now, I sometimes get very scared as working full time, I can’t spend much time with them. I am feeling sick but planning to go with them after work for trick and treating. Be careful in the street, I know about those crazy drivers. The cup cakes and scarf both are lovely. I am so happy for your Etsy shop. It’s so nice to see, how all of us are heading to the right direction. Stay blessed!

  5. Glad you guys had a good night! We have the same problem in our neighborhood with people flying down the road. It is ridiculous! I love the cupcakes, I bought a candy bowl yesterday with similar little skeletons, they are too cute! And your scarf is amazing, I love the gray! Hope you have an amazing day!

    1. Thank you! I want to learn to knit so we may have to get together and teach each other one day. πŸ™‚ I also have my grandmother’s sewing machine packed away that I need to learn to use. πŸ˜€
