Arts and Crafts Show

This weekend was the huge Craftsmen’s Classic Art and Craft Festival. People come from all over the United States to sell their handmade crafts and foods. Last year someone came all the way from New Zealand! Over 250 vendors were there this year. Admission and parking were both free this year if you donated a nonperishable food item which benefits Feeding America Southwest Virginia.

Millions of people attend this event every year. It is so crowded, but if you can get into the wave of people and follow along it is very much worth it.

I did not take any pictures while I was there because there were tons of people pushing through. I took my time enjoying the free samples of soy lotions and body mists and rub on perfumes.

There were lots of jewelry vendors, pottery, fine art, glasswork, home decor, clothing, furniture, food, candles, etc. You name it – it was there! There were so many vendors that had such wonderful items. I could not pick a favorite!

I had not planned on buying anything for myself because my focus was on gifts. However, the only thing I bought ended up being for myself!

How cute is that? I have loved pigs since I was a little girl and the Bible verse they put on this was just too perfect! I have been feeling far less than beautiful lately.

As soon as I walked past the booth that held these adorable animal pictures I knew I had to go back. This picture was sitting on the floor, yet it was the only one that really caught my eye. I normally do not spend $35 on a picture of a pig, but something kept pulling me toward it. It was almost as if God had sent me a literal sign – “You are altogether beautiful!” Goose bumps just ran up my arm.

The husband and wife team that create these amazing pictures work together on their farm in Ohio. She takes pictures of the animals, he handmakes the wooden frames, and together they put Bible verses to the pictures. I thought that was so sweet!

After I left the show I went to the bookstore and to a new store that has been placed in the old Toy’s R Us building. (It still makes me sad that so many places are closing due to online shopping! But that’s a rant for another day.) I ended up buying a few books, one of which I took to lunch with me to read while I ate.

I had a really nice weekend! How was your weekend?

  1. Ooh, I adore craft shows! I would brave a crowd for that. Adorable pic!

My weekend was okay. I had fun seeing friends, but the weather was such that I’m still fighting off a migraine. The rain has stopped and now the winds are attacking. Yucko!

  2. It does sound like a nice weekend you had. Arts and crafts shows are always fun to attend. Yes Michelle, It’s kind of really sad, how many stores are closing in these days. I used to shop a lot at Boston stores and now it’s gone which made me really sad. For some reason, I kept thinking that you live in Switzerland…LOL

  4. That is a cute find! It sounds like the craft show was a fun weekend adventure. We had a little street festival this weekend. I drove through but parking was not great so we didn’t stop to get out. Next year I will plan a little better.

I enjoy crafts, and specailly people who has the talent, and they use their talent. I enjoy old fashion items. That picture of your pig brought back memories of my pig ((Arnold )) When I was a child Arnold was a gray and black pig. He was consider a ((Rount)) I don’t know if I spelled that right. His mother had stepped on his tail and tore it off, where he was left with a tail the size of my pinky. I named him, and I was so hurt when my mom sold him. I cried!! πŸ™‚ I had consider him as a pet. Well Thank you for sharing this. What I did this weekend I was in, it has been rainining here for days. But I worked on a craft painting, and reading my Bible, listening to the rain. I enjoy being busy its very relaxing to me and for me. Shalom!! ((Hugs))
