Long Walk

The rain has finally stopped, but it has certainly left its mark here. Since we’ve had some nice cloudy and cool days I decided to take advantage of it and head to the park for a long walk. The park I went to flooded quite a bit and had to be closed for some time. You can see in the pictures below that the river made its way over the banks and into the path, washing it away. It also covered the steps that lead down to the river; they were caked in mud. The river was still higher than normal and quite muddy, but clearing. I even had a little lizard play hide and seek with me, but I finally got a picture of him peeking around the post.

I love going to the park and walking around the path. It is so beautiful there and so peaceful. There’s a waterfall which I absolutely love and is used in many photo shoots in our area. I cannot even begin to describe how the beauty and earthy smells of that park take my worries away and bring my stress to a halt, if even only for a moment. When I’m there I don’t allow myself to think about what I have to do when I get home. I let it all go.

Do you have a place that does this for you? Takes away your stress and leaves you feeling so peaceful? I’d love to hear about it!

  1. My favorite place to hike is in the cascade mountains in Oregon. The outdoorsy smell there is second to none. My favorite place to walk here is around my backyard (it backs up to a hardwood forest)
