Space Festival

Last Saturday my family and I visited the Virginia Museum of Natural History. They were having a Space Festival event, which turned out to be rather interesting. There was an inflatable replica of a moon habitat that NASA is considering for astronauts to live when when the travel to Mars or the moon.

A table at the festival held actual artifacts used in space by astronauts over the years. There were tools, food, clothing and even some gloves. We tried them on and I really do not know how the astronauts could get any work done in those things!

I’m not sure about you, but I do not think I’d like to drink coffee from a bag.

I was extremely excited for the alien autopsy! I waited all day for this! However, I was very disappointed to find out that it wasn’t an autopsy at all. It was basically a lecture on what happens to the human body after being in space for so long. Yes, it was interesting, but I was looking forward to a good ol’ autopsy of an alien! Bummer.

Do you have any plans for this weekend? Our family reunion is this weekend so I guess that’s where I will be. I hope the weather is nice because so far this week it has been terribly hot and humid, with temps in the upper 90’s. The humidity added in makes it feel way hotter. I’m not a huge fan of summer. Whatever your plans are, be safe and have a great time!
